Where is The Foundry?
The Foundry is located in an old wooden shop with a rusty tin roof in the middle of a residential block between Drummond and Second Streets, also bordered by National Street and Markham in Vicksburg.
The easiest way to find it is to GPS to 3212 Second Street. That’s one block from Drummond. ACROSS from that address you will see a small green sign with the Foundry logo next to an unnamed alley that goes uphill. Just go up that alley next to the sign, and where the pavement turns to gravel near the top, follow the gravel as it hooks to the right. You are already there.

Do I have to stay the whole time?
No, but you are welcome to stay. There’s a small lounge area in the office with a couch and Wi-Fi. In fact, most people drop off their boys and come back.
Can I hang out in the shop during class?
Sorry, only students and staff are allowed in the work areas during class. Plus, do you remember what it was like when you were that age?
Will my child get injured?
Possibly. We do what we can to maximize safety, of course. We’ve been doing this for eight years now, and the worst so far has been a few small cuts and some sore muscles. But the more you do, the more likely you will make a mistake and bang a finger. That’s part of growing up and that’s part of life.
Will my child use his new knowledge to wreck my house?
He might if you let him. Boys love the feeling they get from modifying the world they live in, and once that feeling awakens in them, they tend to explore and expand their abilities and boundaries without realizing what they are doing. That’s why it’s so common for boys to both build and destroy things. They are testing themselves and the physical world; always testing. We recommend giving them a safe space at home with boundaries to pursue their interests. Contact us if you need some ideas or help.
What if I’m running late?
Send your instructor a text about how far out you are and then show up late. That way the instructor can decide whether they want to wait a minute or go ahead and start.
